The Annular Bearing Engineers Committee (ABEC) is the standards committee for the American Bearing Manufacturers Association (ABMA). The ABMA creates & publishes the industry standards. ABEC created an industry scale for the tolerances of ball bearings that has five classes: 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9. All precision bearings must have at least a rating of 1 to be classified as “precision.”
